Why Should I Get A Security Survey?

Do you think that your property is secure? You might think that this is the case and you might be right – but without being in the security industry it’s unlikely that you’re definitely sure. If you haven’t ever thought about getting your property’s security surveyed, there are lots of reasons as to why you should.

You might be at risk of burglary and you don’t know about it. Perhaps you have a dummy alarm and believe that it provides all the extra protection you need, not realising that your euro cylinder lock may be vulnerable to lock snapping and that experienced burglars can recognise a false or inactive alarm.

You might even live in an area with high burglary rates and not be aware of the extent of the issue. The Office of National Statistics reports that Yorkshire and the Humber and London had the highest rates of UK domestic and non-domestic burglary (combined) in the year ending March 2014, so it’s essential for residents in those regions to ensure that they’re safe.

Burglar Breaking In To Home At Night Through Back Door

Even if you believe that your property is secure, ensuring that it definitely is can bring you peace of mind. The risk of burglary is not one worth taking. The Government’s statistics on the nature of burglary show that, in 42% of cases homeowners lose over £1000 worth of possessions, but more importantly, it often leaves a homeowner dealing with emotional distress.

You might feel that your property is safe because you’re always in your home when it’s dark, even in Autumn and Winter. However, the Government revealed in a double blow to expectation that the most common time for thefts is  between 4pm and 7pm, and that 59% of thefts occur whilst the victim is still in the property.

We can undertake a security survey for you, checking that the property is secure and that your locks are covered by insurance. We will also give you the advice you need to ensure that you are taking all the necessary precautionary steps to keep your property secure, beyond owning the right equipment.

However, there is only so much that we can do. Casual mistakes can make theft more likely, whether this is leaving an outside door open whilst you’re in another room, or leaving it evident as to when you are away from the property. It’s important to ensure that are always safety conscious yourself, so keep an eye on our blog for tips on how to keep your property safe.

Call 0800 0612 677 for a free, no obligation quote for a survey.
