What’s The Modern Automated Home?

Home automation is thriving. Several systems have found their way onto the market and more are expected to pop up any time soon, and no wonder. These systems allow the user to control their home remotely, which improves the chance of deterring – or at the very least, later convicting – a burglar. Here’s a bit about some of the features that these systems have.

The key modern home automation feature is the ability to receive notifications if anything has changed within your property. A traditional system might just blare an alarm unless linked to the police, whereas new systems often give you the option to remotely view goings on.

What if you’re not there? Well, many systems will allow you to select trusted individuals whom you would also like to receive notifications. This means that if you run out of battery, are in an important meeting, or anything else that prevents you from seeing a notification, then the burglary can still be reacted to immediately.House in human hands

One of the major problems with security systems has historically been false alarms, but this no longer has to be the case. Some of these systems have the ability to learn from what they see, and will pick up on what is routine so that you needn’t worry about this problem happening.

But it’s not all about burglary. Well, sort of. If you’ve ever lost your keys or had them stolen, there’s some technology out there for you. A couple of smart keychains exist, alerting you when you leave your key behind and letting you know where it was last seen, amongst other features. All you need is one of the keychains and an Android or iOS phone.

Security has definitely seen a step up thanks to advances in technology. However, the first step in home security is having British Standard locks.
